This hard to find book from 1891, collects some of the writings of Lionel Weatherly and John Nevil Maskelyne on the supernatural. With a striking frontispiece of Maskelyne appearing as a spirit to Weatherly still present. The Maskelyne chapters cover Oriental Magic, Spiritualism and Theosophy. A rare book of great interest to those studying the history of magic and Maskelyne's crusade against the spiritualists.
Condition: Good, some minor wear and wrinkling to bookcloth, slight knocks to boards, a few pencil inscriptions and bookseller's embossed mark to front endpaper, yellowing to endpapers and page edges. A particularly nice copy.
