Publisher's description:
Over the years people have often asked about the history of the building and the curious collections that may be found within the magical walls of the old house. To answer these questions I started giving monthly walking tours of the Castle for those who were interested. The tours were usually limited to about twenty people that was, of course, twenty people plus Carol Marie.
Carol Marie followed me through the Castle making copious notes, asking questions, taking pictures and taping sessions. This book is the result of her efforts. This is not about about the magicians of the Academy of Magical Arts or even of the Magic Castle. This is simply a book for members and guests who have visited the club over the years and would like to know more about it. There are hundreds of pictures of the Magic Castle, and, of course, for many of these pictures there is a story or an anecdote that accompanies it… but that will be another book in the future. Please be aware that this book may be filled with many errors and omissions.
Carol Marie has done a meticulous job of gathering all the information and double checking the historical facts. On the other hand I have driven her crazy because the Magic Castle is constantly changing. Not just changing by hanging a new painting here and there or moving some furniture; we have been known to change entire rooms overnight!
Part of the charm of the Castle is that it is constantly fresh and exciting. For me, the Magic Castle will never be finished and, as long as other old buildings keep getting torn down, and as long as people keep cleaning out their attics, we’ll keep adding to THE MAGIC CASTLE.
