This is a full unabridged reprint of Houdini's own history of magic. It looks at magic through the ages and, rather unfairly, deconstructs the idea of Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin as a great originator. Controversial at the time, and now, it was nonetheless a brilliant work of magic history for the time. Superbly illustrated with items from Houdini's extensive collection.
This is a facsimile of the 1909 edition which includes additional chapters on Houdini's handcuff secrets, not included in the original text or the edition of this book currently in print.
Condition: Very good, some minor bumps to the corners of the boards and slight yellowing to page edges, otherwise nearly new.
