David Devant's illusions captivated thousands of audience members during his career working with the Maskelyne family. Towards the end of his performing life he published this book describing the methods behind many of his tricks and illusions with additional contributions from many of his fellow stage magicians. Contains many plates showing Devant's famous effects. 

 

Condition: Fair, a well-read copy, spine split along two-thirds on back hinge, damage and some loss to top of spine, spine faded, back endpaper split but back-board still attached, frontispiece loose but still present and in good condition, general wear, minor foxing and marks throughout, ink mark on bottom page edges. A fair reading copy with all of its original photographic plates present.
