This is a particularly smart first edition of Hoffmann's follow up to Modern Magic. This copy was published in 1890 and joined its predecessor as one of the most important and influential magic books written in the English language.
Condition: Good, wear to board corners and top and bottom of spine, some wear to illustrated board and spine (though much less than normally found), front endpaper has some remnants of sealing wax (see last photo), back endpaper has partially split along spine but boards are still very well attached to textblock, endpapers and page edges have some yellowing and marking, title page has pasted label for Hamleys over publisher's address.
