This remarkable book explores the history of Maskelyne and Cooke's time at the Egyptian Hall in London. It is the essential reference for Maskelyne's early career and is a wealth of good information about British magic's most interesting period. Illustrated throughout with photographic plates and well indexed. Only 500 of these were printed.

An essential reference text for anyone interested in the history of British magic and an enjoyable read.

Condition: Very good, ex-library with gilded stamp to dust jacket and stamps and stickers. The is withdrawn from the reserve stock of the library though so, despite these stickers and stamps, it has barely been handled since publication.
