This uncommon book is Hoffmann's translation of Good's La Science Amusante series written under his pen name Tom Tit. It contains a range of surprising physics tricks which border on magic. Good's superb illustrations, rendered by the engraver Poyet, became an influence on the surrealist movement with his illustrations often featuring in the work of Joseph Cornell and Max Ernst.

It has stamps showing it was donated by Will Goldston to his club in 1930 (note: the handwritten name is not in Goldston's hand, this is not signed by him).

Condition: Fair, a worn copy with some marks to boards and cloth worn through on corners, endpapers split, but boards still attached to textblock, binding loose in a few places, Magician's Club stamps throughout, library label to spine.
